Anna E. Uptain is a music educator, multi- instrumentalist and lover of Appalachian music and culture. She has spent most of her life honing her musical skills and also found she had a nicheʼ for teaching as well as a personal interest in learning and sharing that knowledge.
It is Annaʼs goal to pass along the love of music and instruments to all ages through her classes, workshops and programs. Anna also enjoys being an integral part of sharing a musical heritage to each and every adult or child as they learn and/or play an instrument.
Anna holds degrees in Music Education and Church music with a minor in Education. She has been teaching children and adults for the last 17+ years and has been entertaining since she was a teenager. She feels that one is never too old to learn and specializes in teaching guitar, banjo, and mandolin classes geared for the adult beginner. Since creating her own curriculum for the adult beginner classes, she has written and published two books: Quick Pick Mandolin for the Adult Beginner and Quick Pick Old-Time Banjo for the Adult Beginner. Recently she began playing and teaching the ukulele to all age levels and found it to be a wonderful “first instrument.”
Anna would love to have the opportunity to share a program, workshop or class with your organization.
